Whether you jog for fun or run ultras, changing hormones can affect your running, recovery and injury risk. This practical workshop explains why your running is feeling harder and what actually helps, leaving you with clear actions to keep running strong for all those miles ahead.
What your hormones are doing
How they affect your muscles, joints, energy and recovery.
Strength & activation moves for runners
Effective exercises you can do at home or at the gym. In a take-away (virtual) guide!
Honest answers to your questions
A frank, open chat about running through perimenopause and beyond
This 90-minute session mixes learning, open discussion and running-specific exercises using resistance bands and handheld weights. You don't need any gym experience, and if you're a gym regular, you'll still pick up some new moves.
You'll learn how changing hormones affect your running and make niggles and injuries more likely, and what you can do about it. We'll look at why strength in the back of your body (posterior chain - glutes, hamstrings and calves) matters so much for runners, and you'll learn a 10-minute circuit you can do at home.
There'll be plenty of time for questions about perimenopause or your own training. And if you're free afterwards, join us for a Friday night drink at a nearby bar.

If you run, whatever the level and you have noticed hormonal changes impacting your running then this is for you. You might just be in perimenopause or post menopause, every stage affects us all differently. Or you might not have noticed any impact yet and I just want to get ahead of it!
Made2Move gym does have a couple of parking spots directly outside the front doors but I cannot guarantee these will be available. There is a paid carpark 2 minutes walk away and paid parking on street around the whole of Kelham Island.
Bring some water and a warm jumper as it can get cold in the gym when we are not moving.
Wear whatever you are comfortable working out in
No. I will walk you through some exercises and movements that will help you be a stronger runner. We will be going through them slowly and thoroughly with time for you to practice and ask questions.
Don't be! I know it can feel daunting coming alone, but honestly most people do and part of the event is meeting other women who understand what you are going through.
I cannot offer you a refund but you can give / sell your ticket to someone else. Please just let me know their name and email address in advance. If you can't make it I will still send you the PDF pack after the event.
"[The workshop] was informative, supportive and I came away from it feeling positive about what I can do to remain a strong and happy runner. It was nice to sit a listen and chat about experiences in a safe space with people who understand."
"Before I started with Nicole I thought if I just ran all the time I would be a good runner and I would be fit. Now I realise that fitness, especially post menopause is so much more holistic than that. Now I’m a much better runner overall."
I'm Nicole, a personal trainer of 11 years and a running coach and menopause coach. But more importantly, I'm a runner going through perimenopause myself.
I know how this feels. I went from running ultras to barely getting through 5km. I kept pushing on, hoping things would go back to "normal", and slowly came to hate running. Even though I knew what was happening and what I needed to do, I didn't always do it. When I finally started making the changes, things turned around. This has been one of my strongest running years yet, and I love it again.
